Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question we haven't answered below?  Please e-mail LPPYouthTheatre@gmail.com

  • What if we plan to be on vacation during the summer youth theatre program?

    • The directors usually find a way to work around most vacations UNLESS it is during the final week with performances. That final week is when we put the whole show together, work with costumes and props, and perform the show for family and friends. Tell the directors as soon as you know of any conflicts.

  • What if my child doesn't like the part they are given?

    • Every child cannot play the lead or it would just be a concert and not a musical. Live theatre is a group effort and the show needs actors to play every part to make it a success. The summer youth theatre program registration is due before auditions. Auditions are at the end of the first week of rehearsals. There are no refunds after students have started the program. Your child will benefit from the experience even if they do not have the part they were hoping for.

  • Will my child need to wear a mask during rehearsals?

    • Lake Plains Players will be following all mask mandates as required by both the state and the Roy-Hart School District.

  • What if my child is sick?

    • If you think your child may be sick, we do ask that they wear a mask when attending rehearsals.

  • Will you need any parent volunteers?

    • YES, PLEASE! A show takes many people behind the scenes to make it a success. We will need parents to help with monitoring students that are not on stage, costumes, hair and makeup, set construction, set painting, selling ads for the program, cast party planners, and so much more. You can sign up to help here.

  • What if my child does not want to be an actor, but instead wants to work backstage, with lighting or sound?

    • Lighting, sound, and stage crew need to be in high school or older to participate and there is no application fee. These positions will require attendance at rehearsals the final two weeks of the program. No prior experience is necessary, but they do need to be able to work independently after learning their responsibilities. If a high school student is interested in joining stage crew, please have them fill out the survey here.
